Around a month ago, the UK citizens were asking this question. A month later, we’re asking it again.
Liz Truss came into power and it didn’t end well, leaving the UK confused, and, undoubtedly, shocked at how downhill things could go. After announcing she was resigning, the race for the next prime minister was back on.
Penny Mordaunt (Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council), who had previously tried for prime minister, has made public that she will try again, as well as Rishi Sunak (ex- Chancellor) who had lost to Liz Truss previously by around 21,000 votes. A lot of Boris Johnson’s ‘friends’ have said they will be backing Rishi Sunak, putting him in a strong position. Penny Mordaunt and Rishi Sunak are the only people who have officially confirmed they are in the race.
Although Boris Johnson (ex-prime minister) hasn’t announced anything yet, it is believed he may try again. If that is the case, he could gather a lot of supporters, giving Rishi Sunak a tough and tight competition.
Right now, all the UK citizens can do is speculate, but only time will tell who will be the UK’s next prime minister: Penny Mordaunt, Rishi Sunak, or Boris Johnson?
