As some of you may already know the leader of the far-right Italian party ,Fratelli d’Italia or Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni recently claimed victory in Italy’s election and is the first female Prime minister of Italy.

A bit about Meloni and Fratelli d’Italia:

-The political party was one of the very few party’s that chose not to join Mario Draghi’s national unity government and became the solitary opposition voice.

-Meloni has lead Fratelli d’Italia for 10 years!

-Meloni’ party is the most right-winged government that Italy has seen since WW2!

-Meloni is also adamant that Fratelli d’Italia, formed in 2012, has zero links to fascism, however it appears that some of it’s members hold a candle for Mussolini, Italy’s fascist leader from WW2, who also happened to be good friends with Hitler.

What are her priorities?:

-These are listed in a speech she gave in Spain last June:

”Yes to the natural family, no to the LGBT lobby, yes to sexual identity, no to gender ideology… no to Islamist violence, yes to secure borders, no to mass migration… no to big international finance… no to the bureaucrats of Brussels!”

More about Fratelli d’Italia:

Meloni has appointed an new family and birth rate minister, who is Eugenia Roccella. Roccella has spoken out against abortion and even threatened to reverse the recently agreed rights for same-sex parents. However despite this Meloni has agreed to govern “for everyone”, and has no plans to over turn the existing rights for LGBTQ+ couples in Italy. However despite this Meloni has spoken out against adoptions and surrogacy involving LGBTQ+ couples. As well as promising to govern “for everyone” Italy’s allies in both Nato and the European Union won’t change in direction of foreign policy.

What does the ex-Prime minister think about her?:

- Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s ex-Prime minister, who is doing little more then a walk on part, has described her as “Patornising, bossy, arrogant, offensive and ridiculous.” He has also said that there was, “ no willingness to change- she is one you can’t get along with.”

With all this said what do you think about Meloni and Fratelli d’Italia?
