In a dystopian Chicago, society is divided into 5 factions - each striving to cultivate a certain virtue. 16-year-old Beatrice Prior is at the age of choosing which faction she will dedicate her life to, but she is not sure where her future lies. The Aptitude Test decides which faction you belong to, but after her results are inconclusive, Beatrice finds out she is in grave danger.
