Batting

5.  Graham Gooch

One of the most successful batters of his generation, with a Test average of 42.58 Graham Gooch scored 8,900 runs in test matches. He is one of only 25 players to score a hundred Test centuries.

4.  Brian Lara (West Indies)

Brian Lara is a West Indies legend. He is the greatest run scorer in test cricket history. He has scored 11,953 runs in test cricket. He has a record for the highest individual in test cricket 400* runs and in first class cricket 501* runs.

 3.   Sir Viv Richards (West Indies)

Viv Richards is called the greatest batsman of one day international (ODI) match of all time. He played 121 test matches and scored 8500+ runs with 24 centuries.

2.   Sachin Tendulkar (India)

Sachin Tendulkar is one of three batsmen to score 11,000 test runs. He is the only batsmen to score 100 centuries in total until now. He has scored 15,921 runs in test cricket and 18,426 in ODIs.

1.     Sir Don Bradman (Australia)

Sir Don Bradman is called the greatest batsman of all time. When he was in form, no-one could stop him from scoring runs. He has a lucrative career with an average of 99.94 in test history which seems impossible to break this record for any batsmen. He scored 29 test centuries in just 80 innings. But the end was not very pleasurable for him, he could make the average 100 if he could score 4 runs in his last match but it was a matter of grief that he got duck in that innings and could not make it through. He played 52 test matches and scored 6996 with 29 centuries.

Bowling

5. Dennis Lillee (Australia)

When Dennis Lillee retired his 355 Test wickets was a record, he had an average of 23.92 which isn’t too bad. Few, if any batsmen ever looked forward to facing Lillee, as they knew they would be in for a rough time.

4. Malcom Marshall (Windies)

Marshall’s test bowling average of 20.94 is the best of any bowler to have taken more than 200 wickets. His aggressive fast bowling became feared amongst batsmen, especially his bouncer. He recorded 376 Test match wickets

3.  Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri-Lanka)

On an unspectacular Sri-Lankan side Muttiah Muralitharan has taken 735 Test wickets. His highest average in all forms of the game is 23.00 in, ODI, and he has a 19.06 average in first-class, having recorded well over 1,000 wickets.

2. Shane Warne (Australia)

Shane Warne is considered the greatest leg-spin bowler in cricket history. One of the only two men to have achieved over 700 Test wickets, he was the only bowler to be voted one of the 5 Wisden cricketers of the year.

1. Glenn McGrath

In my opinion Glenn McGrath is the greatest bowler ever. He was the key reason for Australia’s domination of cricket in the mid 90’s. His 563 Test wickets is the most any fast bowler has ever got, and fourth in the all-time list. His average of 21.64 is one of the best you will find on this list.
