After four weeks of goals, cheers, tears, the Women's Football World Cup champions have been crowned.
In the last match of the cup, England and Spain battled to have their name on the cup's Trophy. Both teams, I'm expecting, had more pressure on them, as neither have ever won the cup. England's captain, Leah Williamson, and Beth Mead where not playing in the match, as they were both injured.
The cup started on 20th of July, the first match with New Zealand scoring a victory by 1 goal. The Americans were one of the favourites, but played in only 2 matches.
England were off to a good start, some nice passes, but no goals. Spain did create some chances, but England's Goal Keeper, Mary Earps did some fantastic saves. Though, later in the match, Spain's Olga Carmona, scored the first, and last goal. England were so close to a goal, but it just hit the net's bar. England maybe could have a chance of winning, but some of their top players, like Alessia Russo came off the pitch.
The match had a lot of extra time due to some blood involved injuries. At the end, all the England fans were holding their breath in the 13 minutes extra time they had for England to score a goal at the last minute, and then the match would go to penalties. But in the end, Spain were Women's Football world cup winners. Congratulations to all football fans from Spain!
