It’s the Easter Holidays – whoo hoo! - and I think everyone needed it. But, at the same time, sometimes thinking what to do can be difficult. Here are some ideas that will get you active, and will be full of fun!

Dodgeball:

Ever tried dodgeball? No? Time to try it now!

How do you play?

It’s very simple. Get a few soft balls –NOT footballs or any hard balls because that could be dangerous- and make a team. Each team has to throw balls at the other team, and if it hits them, they are out. However, you CAN’T hit them on the head, and if the ball bounces and then hits them, they are not out. If you catch the ball directly, the person who threw it at you is out! I would say the minimum amount of people for each team should be 3 – otherwise it will be boring.

Football:

I had never played football before, but then lockdown happened and it was time to discover new sports.

How do you play?

I’m not much of an expert when it comes to football, but the way I play it is that there are 2 teams and they have to kick the ball to their goal (which is normally my fence). Simple, huh? There is a rush goalie (basically someone who isn’t only a goalie, but also can hit goals) but if you are lacking the amount of people playing, I normally keep it to no goalie. Minimum amount of people on each team should be 3.

Farmer, farmer:

This game is great! It doesn’t require anything apart from people (of course).

How do you play?

There is a farmer who stands in the middle and the rest of the people playing stand on one side of him. Then, they say ‘Farmer, farmer can we cross your golden river?. The farmer then replies ‘Only if...’ So, the farmer needs to give one condition you can cross. For example, he/she can say ‘Only if you are wearing black shoes! However, if that condition applies for only one person, or applies of everyone but one person, that’s not fair.

Granny:

Be careful with this game – the granny always has a sharp eye!

How do you play?

One person needs to stand away from the others, and they are the granny. The other people have to walk when the granny’s back has turned around, but when the granny faces them, they have to freeze. If the granny sees someone move, they have to go back to the start, but the first person to touch the granny’s back becomes the new granny!

Forty-forty homey:

Make sure you hide well!

How do you play?

Everyone has to decide on one place which is the homey, and they also have to decide who is the ItterThe Itter counts to 44 and the other people have to hide. When the Itter stops counting, they have to run to the homey and cry ‘Forty, forty homey!’ Then, they are safe. Remember: if you don’t say ‘Forty, forty homey!’, then you can still be it by the Itter.

I hope these games will be boredom - killers for the rest of the holidays!
