In one of my previous articles I said that many aircraft are grounded, including the entire Jet2, easyjet and TUI fleet. Now easyjet have started the majority of its flights within the UK and abroad. TUI have started flights from Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London Gatwick airports. Jet2 have now started most of their flights from UK airport hubs including Stansted, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle, but some airlines have cancelled flights to countries where you have to quarantine for 14 days.

So now that the UK government have introduced air bridges for some countries (where the government has deemed it safe to visit via air), you will not have to isolate for 14 days upon your return. Many airlines have been desperate to start flying as soon as possible, because the aviation industry has been hit very hard with the lockdown and airlines have lost billions of pounds and thousands of workers. However, the UK government are still advising that you shouldn't go on holiday to some countries, unless you are prepared to quarantine when you get home.

If you pick the right country for your holiday, you can fly without worrying about the two week isolation period afterwards. Your airport and inflight experience will still be very different to the usual. Here are a few things that make the journey a bit different:

1. You have to wear a face mask at all times.

2. Sanitising stations are all around every airport, and you should use them regularly if you don't have your own hand sanitiser.

3. Because of social distancing, you may have to wait outside some shops because they are limiting the amount of customers in each shop.

4. Some airlines have reintroduced inflight shopping, but you have to pay by contactless card.

So I hope my tips will help you understand that, although you can fly abroad, you still have to stay safe, and that every airport and airline is doing all they possibly can to keep you safe. Still - enjoy your flight as much as possible!
