The whole world isn’t working like it used to. Everyone is locked away.

My name is Ines, I am 13 years old and I am in lockdown in Edinburgh with my mum and dad. This whole thing is CRAZY!! There is not another way to describe it! The thing I miss the most are my friends. I also miss my family, because they are all abroad - I don’t get to see them very often normally, but now I don’t get to see them at all. I also miss dancing in a studio with all of my peers. My dance studio is doing zoom classes for me to attend to every time I have a class, which is really good, but it isn’t the same. I also don’t get to do much exercise since we can’t go outside much, so hopefully not everyone in the world will become unfit. I also miss being able to have a picnic! I used to look forward to that!

So much has changed. For school we have to do online learning through Microsoft teams. Our teachers send us things to do and then we send them back to be corrected after we have finished. I quite like learning online, you get to wake up later and go to bed later. So it isn’t all bad!!! Me and my family are also face-timing a lot of friends and watching new movies! So, thank you technology!!!

I have been drawing and painting, and discovered that I really like it. I also found a podcast that is really good and I highly recommend it, it’s called Showmance by Kevin Mchale and Jenna Ushkowitz. It’s good because I would never normally listen to podcasts before, and I have found a lot of new things that I like doing! I have become more creative, using only the things I have in my house. I was also really happy when I found out that, since more people aren’t going out, the climate change crisis is getting much better. Even though lots of people won’t survive through this mad time, which is really sad, I guess we have to all be positive. I do believe that the whole world will get out of this, and that is what should drive us through lockdown.
