Now the Scottish government have announced very tough restrictions. Some people were probably hoping to travel in the UK or maybe abroad but those that planned to travel by plane might have to cancel those plans.

A new strain of COVID-19, has caused many countries to shut their borders like France, Belgium, Ireland and the list goes on. Now, what does this mean for the airlines that usually fly us to these destinations?

Jet2 has cancelled flights to mainland Spain and the Balearics until 11th February 2021. Ryanair has cancelled flights to all destinations except Dublin from all Scottish airports. All flights to and from the Netherlands have been cancelled. Loganair has grounded all of their commercial aircraft and have cancelled all flights. The Scottish government have advised all Scots not to travel unless absolutely essential even though you would be very lucky to actually get a flight.

The Scottish government also said in one of their briefings that even US President (at the time of writing) Donald Trump is not allowed to travel into Scotland because First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said that she doesn't see how playing golf is essential.

So sadly we are here again, no flights, no holidays, no day trips abroad but just like we did before we will get through this and then we will have that feeling of approaching a plane and looking out of the window at an amazing view of the sky. We will get there again. Let's hope we get there as quickly as possible.
