The very first case of Coronavirus was reported during the festive season of December 2019, and one year later we are still battling. In fact, (although many countries have made progress throughout the year) global deaths have now exceeded 2 million and the number of current globally reported cases is approximately 94 million. However, around 52 million people have recovered, with the aid of our nurses and doctors.

In the UK, a massive vaccination program is being rolled out due to three vaccines having been made: The Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccine. The top three people eligible to receive these vaccines are people aged 80 and over, people who live or work in care homes and health and social care workers at high risk. Is this the light at the end of the tunnel?

After a storm, there will be a rainbow. This is a saying which means after a difficult situation, there will be hope, and light. Around the UK, during March last year, citizens made rainbow posters and stuck them on their windows to motivate the NHS and all key workers, as well as clapping at 8 o'clock in order to show our gratitude.

I salute all the hard-working NHS staff and key workers who put their life at risk to protect our country. Without their support, we might not have been where we are.
