Many people (including myself) love having plants
around us in our daily lives. Whether it’s a big leafy plant or a small
succulent, plants are believed to have many benefits. And here are some I find
the most interesting.
Studies show that having plants at
home or in your workspace help to sooth and comfort you. They could possibly
reduce both physiological and psychological stress.
It has been proven that we are more
productive with plants around, studies show that students worked 12% faster
with plants in the room. A study done in 2007 shows that people with plants
took less days off and were more productive at work. So, If I keep plants in my
bedroom, does that mean I will get my homework done faster???
Plants are used to improve the
quality of indoor air and having many plants in a room can have the same air
purifying abilities as modern air filtering technology, so instead of having a
noisy machine in your room have some decorative plants!
You feel a sense of accomplishment
and pride, because if you accept thing as yours and they do well your proud,
the same thing goes for plants. (If you keep them alive of course)
If you are interested in getting some
plants, these are a few recommended for keeping in your bedroom.
English ivy - can go 1-2 weeks without
water, thrive in all lighting, fast growing, lovely to keep in hanging baskets
Peace lily - can brighten up any room
quickly, they thrive in high/low light areas, their white flowers last for
weeks on end.
Aloe vera - needs a bright spot but can
go without water for a few weeks, the gel inside their leaves can heal cuts and
sunburn quickly and cheaply.
Bonus fact!
Did you know that medical clinics in Manchester,
England are now “prescribing” potted plants to patients with depression or
anxiety symptoms?
